This recipe was tailored to use fresh, whole cone Chinook hops. It's a bright beer that borderlines on the hoppiness of an IPA but is low enough in ancohol to fit within the American Pale Ale category.

Ingredients

  • 12 lb 2-Row Malt
  • 9 oz CaraPils
  • 8 oz Caramel-40
  • 12 oz Chinook Whole Cone Hops
  • 1 packet US-05 Yeast
  • 1 pinch Irish Moss

  • Cooler
  • Thermometer
  • Fermentor and airlock

Instructions

  1. 1

    22qt water for Mash- 165F Strike Temperature- 1 hour

    60 min

  2. 2

    8qt water for sparge- 170F rest for 10min

    10 min

  3. 3

    Start of boil- Add 3.5oz Hops- boil for 70 minutes.

    70 min

  4. 4

    +70 minutes- Flame-Out Add 3.5oz Hops + Pinch of Irish Moss

  5. 5

    After cooled below 80F, Add 5 oz Hops

  6. 6

    Everything into the fermentor + US-05 yeast.
